Join our Steering Group!

In 2025, Equinox is launching a new steering group composed of activists from across Europe. The objective is to ensure that Equinox work is truly driven by organisers on the ground to build collective power.

As part of this process, we are seeking members who meet the following criteria:

1. Direct engagement with at least one of Equinox core areas of work:

• Care not control – shifting away from punitive approaches in the areas of migration and borders, policing and digital policy to focus on policies of care, protection and social provision
• Gender justice – putting racialised women, queer, trans and non-binary people, migrants, people with disabilities and those in precarious work at the centre
• Global justice struggle – building solidarity practices with global movements for economic and environmental justice and against imperialism

2. Will actively partner with Equinox to put in place projects in line with the strategic priorities 

3. Have a lived experience of anti-oppression work and community-led activism at the intersection of racial, migrant, queer, feminist and social justice movements.

While we hope to agree collectively on what the main activities of the group should be, we have outlined some ways of engagement:

• Undertaking mutual efforts: e.g., joint project applications, joint advocacy projects, joint reports, etc.
• Providing support to Equinox: e.g., contributing to Equinox position papers or bringing a critical perspective, providing feedback on strategy, etc.
• Receiving support from Equinox: e.g., organising a fundraising session, supporting an event, etc.

Likewise, below are some key functioning principles for the group:

• The group is anchored in Equinox values of intersectionality, anti-oppression and solidarity. It seeks to move beyond harm done at the individual level to address structural change.
• Members commit to joining bi-monthly group calls.
• The duration of the mandate is 2 years.
• A stipend can be provided to members who need it.
