Racialised LGBTI Realities: Racial justice insights from the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency survey data
In August 2023, ILGA and Equinox produced a joint briefing called “The Intersections Report: Migrant And Racial, Ethnic And Religious Minorities”.
The report examines the challenges faced by LGBTI migrants from outside of the EU and belonging to ethnic or religious minorities compared to the wider LGBTI community results.
The survey results found that across Europe, LGBTI communities face systemic discrimination, inequalities and, and violence from the state, based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or sex characteristics.
With this in mind, we analysed the experiences of LGBTI respondents who are othered based on their migrant status, ethnicity, or religion.
